The course covers the fundamentals of childhood development, caring for children, and planning leisure and play activities, all focused on the child’s development.

You might work with babies, toddlers, and pre-school aged children. Your role is to guide children, and facilitate learning through play and various activities and experiences.

Early childhood educators work in long day care centers, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, prospective students need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at a Certificate III level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

  • Pre-training review to ensure student has the appropriate level of Language Literacy and Numeracy to achieve the competencies. Where a test result is supplied, it must be within the last 12 months.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • You will need to be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18 years of age, your enrolment form will need to be signed by a parent or guardian.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A satisfactory National Police Check (NPC) and where a student has resided in another country from the age of 16, as a permanent resident of citizen, they will be required to provide a Statutory Declaration.
